ARNOTT REAR AIR SHOCK
FOR 1996-2002 CADILLAC (VARIOUS CARS)
The air suspension system is under pressure (up to 10 bar, or 150 lbf/in). Verify pressure has been relieved and disconnect power to the air suspension system prior to disassembly. Do not allow dirt or grease to enter the system. Always wear standard hand, ear, and eye protection when servicing the air suspension system.

Not to be stored below 5°F (-15°C) or above 122°F (50°C).
Avoid damage to air lines and cables.
Removal and installation is only to be performed by fully qualified personnel.
Use car manufacturer’s diagnostic software.
Damage to the vehicle and air suspension system can be incurred if work is carried out in a manner other than specified
in the instructions or in a different sequence.
To avoid the possibility of short circuits while working with electric components consult your owner's manual on how to
disconnect your battery.
Consult your vehicle owner's manual, service manual, or car dealer for the correct jacking points on your vehicle and for
additional care, safety and maintenance instructions. Under no circumstances should any work be completed underneath
the vehicle if it is not adequately supported, as serious injuries and death can occur.
1. RAISE VEHICLE. THE TIRES MUST BE OFF THE GROUND AND SUSPENSION MUST BE FULLY DOWN
WITH NO LOAD. REMOVE REAR WHEEL. (FIGURE 10-1)
2. LOCATE AND REMOVE THE AIR LINE TO DEFLATE THE AIR SHOCK. TURN THE METAL CLIP APPROX. 90°
TO REMOVE THE AIR LINE FITTING FROM THE AIR SHOCK. (FIGURE 10-2)
3. SUPPORT LOWER CONTROL ARM WITH FLOOR JACK TO RELIEVE SPRING LOAD. (FIGURE 10-3)
4. LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE LOWER SHOCK NUT AND BOLT. (FIGURE 10-4)
5. REMOVE UPPER NUT, RETAINER AND INSULATOR. (FIGURE 10-5)
6. UNPLUG STRUT DAMPER SOLENOID AND REMOVE CABLE FROM MOUNTING BRACKETS. (FIGURE 10-6)
7. COMPRESS SHOCK AND REMOVE THROUGH UPPER CONTROL ARM. (FIGURE 10-7)
Tighten all nuts and bolts to manufacturer's specifications during the installation process.
1. POSITION TOP OF SHOCK ABSORBER WITH INSULATOR AND INSTALL THROUGH UPPER CONTROL ARM

2. REPLACE LOWER NUT AND BOLT. (FIGURE 20-2)
3. REPLACE UPPER SHOCK ABSORBER INSULATOR, RETAINER AND NUT. (FIGURE 20-3)
4. CLIP AIR HOSE BACK ON AIR SHOCK FITTING. (FIGURE 20-4)
5. PLUG IN NEW STRUT DAMPER SOLENOID AND INSTALL CABLE BACK TO FACTORY MOUNTING BRACKETS.

6. INSTALLED NEW AIR SHOCK. (FIGURE 20-6)
7. REPLACE WHEEL AND LOWER SUSPENSION.
8. INSTALLATION COMPLETE.
