Proper installation is essential to experience and appreciate the benefits of this system. Please take a moment to review these installation instructions before you begin to install these components on your vehicle. The removal and installation of air suspension products should only be performed by a fully qualified, ASE Certified, professional.

It is equally important to be aware of all necessary safety measures while installing your new Air Suspension System. This includes proper lifting and immobilizing of the vehicle and isolation of any stored energy to prevent personal injury or property damage.

P-2986 WABCO OES Air Suspension Compressor

WARNING: The air suspension system is under pressure (up to 10 bar, or 150 lbf/in). Verify pressure has been relieved and disconnect power to the air suspension system prior to disassembly. Do not allow dirt or grease to enter the system. Always wear standard hand, ear, and eye protection when servicing the air suspension system.

Not to be stored below 5°F (-15°C) or above 122°F (50°C).

Avoid damage to air lines and cables.

Removal and installation is only to be performed by fully qualified personnel.

Use car manufacturer’s diagnostic software.

CAUTION: Damage to the vehicle and air suspension system can be incurred if work is carried out in a manner other than specified in the instructions or in a different sequence.

WARNING: To avoid the possibility of short circuits while working with electric components consult your owner's manual on how to disconnect your battery.

WARNING: Consult your vehicle owner's manual, service manual, or car dealer for the correct jacking points on your vehicle and for additional care, safety and maintenance instructions. Under no circumstances should any work be completed underneath the vehicle if it is not adequately supported, as serious injuries and death can occur.

AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

1. Set the steering to straight ahead.

2. Raise the vehicle.

3. Remove protective shield from under the rear of the vehicle to access the compressor. (FIGURES 1, 2)

4. Disconnect the three (3) electrical connectors from the valve block and compressor assembly. (FIGURES 3, 4, 5)

5. Disconnect the rubber intake hose. (FIGURE 6)

6. Disconnect the air lines from the valve block. (Note: Brown line does not have to be disconnected at this time.) (FIGURES 7, 8)

8. Remove the four (4) outer mounting nuts that secure the compressor bracket assembly to the vehicle. (FIGURE 9)

9. Remove the entire compressor assembly from the vehicle. (FIGURE 10)

AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR REMOVAL

1. Remove the brown air line from the compressor and discard. (FIGURE 11)

2. Remove the three (3) Torx screws that secure the mounting bracket to the compressor. (FIGURES 12, 13)

AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION

WARNING: Tighten all nuts and bolts to manufacturer's specifications during the installation process.

1. Remove the four spring washers and set aside. Remove and discard the springs. Install the new springs and reinstall the spring washers. (FIGURES 14, 15, 16)

2. Install the supplied VOSS fitting onto the valve block in the location of the previously removed brown line, torquing to 2 N.M. (FIGURE 17)

3. Install mounting bracket on the new air compressor. Tighten screws to 15 N.M. (FIGURES 18, 19)

4. Remove the white shipping pins and insert air line. Route the air line from the compressor’s VOSS fitting to the valve block’s VOSS fitting as shown below. The steps for proper VOSS fitting usage are located below in Step 5. (FIGURES 20, 21, 22)

5. These are the steps for proper insertion of the air line into the VOSS fitting. (FIGURES 23, 24, 25, 26)

6. Remove the plastic shipping plug from the intake air tube and attach the air hose as shown below. Use the supplied cable-tie to attach the electrical plug into place as shown below. (FIGURES 27, 28, 29, 30)

AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

WARNING: Tighten all nuts and bolts to manufacturer's specifications during the installation process.

WARNING: Do not remove the air fitting from the air suspension compressor. Doing so may cause damage and/or void warranty. Remove the white shipping pin from the new air fitting and insert the air line until fully seated.

1. Install the compressor into the vehicle. Install the four outer mounting nuts that secure the compressor bracket assembly to the vehicle. (FIGURES 31, 32)

2. Reconnect the air lines to the valve block and re-attach the rubber in-take hose. (FIGURES 33, 34)

3. Reconnect the electrical connectors. (FIGURE 35)

4. Reinstall the protective shield. (FIGURE 36)

Air Suspension Compressor

A NEW AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR RELAY IS PROVIDED IN THIS KIT. FAILURE TO REPLACE THIS RELAY WITH THE UNIT PROVIDED CAN CAUSE DAMAGE AND/OR VOID WARRANTY.

RELAY IS LOCATED AT THE FRONT RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT

CRACKED AIR SPRINGS MUST BE CHANGED TO VALIDATE THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR

PROPER PROCEDURE FOR ASSESSING YOUR AIR SPRINGS CONDITION:

1. Turn off air suspension switch if equipped.

2. Refer to owner’s manual for proper lifting techniques and jacking points.

3. Raise the vehicle.

4. Inspect air springs for any type of cracks or excessive wear. Cracks in air springs are evident if they are leaking. This will cause the compressor to overheat from continuous operation.
